We set out to compare the websites of Tashkent jewellery shops and brands the same way we compared dental clinics and logistics firms. The main finding showed up before the comparison even began. The capital's jewellery trade barely has websites. The "Jewellery shops" category on 2GIS lists 328 businesses in Tashkent. The "has a website" filter leaves 60. We then removed chain duplicates, dead and parked domains, pawnshops and shops from other cities. That left 18 working websites of their own. They belong to 12 jewellery shops, houses and workshops and 6 luxury watch boutiques. That is too few for percentages. So below we give absolute numbers in the form "X out of 18". We also describe a market that sells gold and diamonds through Instagram.

Data collected on 17–18 October 2026. A 101digital study, Tashkent. We checked only public pages and do not name the companies.

Key figures

  • Of 328 jewellery shops on 2GIS in Tashkent, 60 list a website. Only 18 have a working site of their own that is not a duplicate.
  • 5 sites out of 18 have an Uzbek version. 10 are Russian-only. On 3, the homepage has almost no text.
  • 2 out of 18 use store markup for Google (JewelryStore, Store).
  • 8 out of 18 run no analytics at all. Yandex Metrica is more common than Google Analytics (8 vs 5).
  • 7 out of 18 mention prices on the homepage. 1 out of 18 shows a map of the shop.
  • Telegram appears on 14 out of 18 sites, Instagram on 15 and WhatsApp on 2.
  • 7 out of 18 have no H1 heading. On 3, the SSL certificate expires within 30 days. Another 2 sites take longer than 2 seconds to respond.
  • The obvious industry domains (zargarlik.uz, zarina.uz, almaz.uz, 585.uz, yuvelir.uz) have been bought and parked. There is nothing on them.
  • Only 1 site out of 18 meets all 5 basic requirements (HTTPS, mobile version, store markup, sitemap, Uzbek version).

A market that lives on Instagram

We searched for Tashkent jewellery websites the same way as in other industries. We ran search queries in Russian, Uzbek and English. We went through 2GIS and Yandex Maps listings and the goldenpages.uz, yellowpages.uz and top.uz directories. We searched for shops by name and checked about 300 times whether a domain matching a brand name was taken. The result looks like no other industry we have studied.

Most jewellery shops in the capital sell through Instagram, Telegram and their 2GIS listing. That includes well-known brands with several outlets in shopping centres. Some sites still appear in directories but no longer open. In one case the domain was not renewed. In another the certificate belongs to a different host. Elsewhere a registrar's page loads instead. One more detail says a lot. Someone has bought the most obvious addresses in the industry (zargarlik.uz, zarina.uz, almaz.uz, 585.uz, yuvelir.uz), and they sit empty.

The average purchase in a jewellery shop runs to hundreds of dollars. People buy jewellery for a wedding or an anniversary and compare options for a long time. A buyer searches for "обручальные кольца Ташкент цена" (wedding rings Tashkent price) or "brilliant uzuk narxi" (diamond ring price). Google shows them marketplaces, classified ads and articles. The shops themselves barely show up.

What the 18 sites showed

For each of the 18 sites, a script downloaded the homepage, robots.txt and sitemap.xml and recorded the HTTP headers and response time. The method is the same as in our studies of dental clinics, private clinics, logistics and the auto business. The results below are absolute numbers. With 18 sites, percentages would suggest a precision the data does not have.

The shops that did build a site have the basics in place. All 18 run on HTTPS and have a mobile layout. The problems start where the site is supposed to sell. 7 sites have no H1. On 7, the homepage is shorter than 300 words, so in practice it is a picture gallery with no text. Only two have store markup. The median response time is 0.5 s, but two sites take longer than two seconds.

5 sites out of 18 have an Uzbek version. All five also have an English one. These are the sites of large jewellery houses and watch boutiques. By default, 13 sites open in Russian and 1 in Uzbek. 4 have hreflang tags set up. Families all over the country buy jewellery, so this is a real gap with the audience. For comparison, 59% of auto business sites have an Uzbek version, and so do 57% of private clinic sites.

Jewellers build their sites as an extension of Instagram. Almost all of them link to social media. What sets a website apart from an account is mostly missing. That means prices, a map and a call to action. 7 sites out of 18 give prices. One site shows a map with the boutique's address. Yet for someone buying jewellery, the deciding question is where they can see the piece in person.

Analytics and images

  • Yandex Metrica runs on 8 sites, Google Analytics on 5 and the Meta pixel on 3.
  • 8 out of 18 have no tracking code at all.
  • The 18 homepages carry 421 images. 107 of them (one in four) have no alt text. That is the best result among the industries we studied. Jewellers take care of their photos.
  • 5 sites use WebP/AVIF formats, and 6 lazy-load their images.
  • 12 sites are custom builds or run on a platform we could not identify. 3 use WordPress, and OpenCart, Webflow and Tilda power one each.

What this means for jewellery businesses

In the Tashkent jewellery market, having a website is a competitive advantage in itself. That is rare. People search, but there are almost no competitors in the results. A shop that builds a site with a catalogue, prices in sum, a boutique map and an Uzbek version will face only the marketplaces in Google. Today just one site out of 18 meets all 5 basic requirements (HTTPS, mobile version, store markup, sitemap, Uzbek version).

4 key steps for jewellery shop owners

  1. Build a website even if your sales go through Instagram. Google does not index your account, it will not rank for "обручальные кольца Ташкент" (wedding rings Tashkent) and you do not own it.
  2. Publish a catalogue with prices in sum and Product markup. That gets you rich results with prices in search. No competitor has them today.
  3. Add JewelryStore markup with the addresses of all your boutiques, a +998 phone number, opening hours and a link to your Google Business Profile.
  4. Show a map of your boutiques on the homepage and the contact page. Right now one site does this.

Limitations of the study

  • The sample is 18 sites. That is not industry statistics. It is the full list of what we could find in public sources over two days. That is why the results are given as absolute numbers.
  • We checked only the homepage, robots.txt and sitemap.xml. We did not analyse catalogues or product pages.
  • Criteria were detected automatically from the HTML code. Sites that load their content with scripts may have scored lower than they should.
  • Response time was measured from Europe.
  • The data was recorded on 17–18 October 2026. The number of 2GIS listings is as of the collection date.

We will share the full method with journalists and industry associations on request. If you cite this study, credit "101digital study, October 2026" and link to this page.

The 101digital "Tashkent Business Websites, 2026" research series: dental clinics, private clinics, manufacturing, auto business, logistics.

According to the 101digital study (October 2026), 60 of the 328 jewellery shops on 2GIS in Tashkent list a website. We found 18 working sites of their own with no duplicates. They belong to 12 jewellery shops and houses and 6 luxury watch boutiques. Most shops sell through Instagram and Telegram.

5 sites out of 18 have an Uzbek version. Another 10 are Russian-only, and on 3 the homepage has almost no text. 1 site opens in Uzbek by default.

7 sites out of 18 mention prices on the homepage. 1 site shows a map of the shop. 2 use store markup for Google (JewelryStore, Store).

15 sites out of 18 link to Instagram, 14 to Telegram and 2 to WhatsApp. 12 have a clickable phone number and 13 have an order form. 2 sites show no contact channel at all on the homepage.

Because we could not find more. Tashkent's jewellery trade works mainly through Instagram, Telegram and 2GIS listings. We checked about 380 domains from directories, brand queries and direct checks. The rest turned out to be duplicates, dead or parked domains, pawnshops, shops in other cities or foreign brands without a local site.
